Frequently Asked Questions
Q1 Why use a driver instead of a drill?
Drills lack the torque necessary to consistently drive bolts through hard materials. They are slower than an impact driver at driving fasteners.
Q2 Can you drill holes with a drill driver?
Using an impact driver and a regular hex-shank drill bit, you can make small holes in light-gauge steel and soft wood. However, if you want to produce larger holes than ¼ inch in heavy steel, hardwood, or pressure-treated timber, you'll need a bit designed specifically for impact drivers.
Q3 How strong of a drill do you need to drill through metal?
Most metals may be drilled through at 3,000 rpm with a tiny twist bit (up to 13mm). 350 to 1,000 rpm is suggested for twist pieces that are larger than 26 mm.
