DEWALT POWER TOOLS APP MAKES POWER TOOLS REMARKABLE SMART

Dewalt released an app that controls DeWALT power tools equipped with a new Bluetooth battery.

Power tools brand DeWALT has released its smartphone app for iOS and Android. The DeWALT Tool Connect App pairs with Dewalt's first line of 20V MAX 2.0 Amp (DCB203BT) and 4.0 Amp (DCB204BT) lithium ion batteries with Bluetooth capability.

The Bluetooth enabled batteries enable the smartphone app to run battery diagnostics, alert at low battery charge, alert at high temperature, alert at charge completion, and more.

The new App also alerts if the power tool is out of range and can disable it if out of range. This a neat theft protection. The features are also useful for tool renters.

A lend your battery feature in the app allows to set the battery to disable itself after a predetermined time frame rendering the battery useless until it’s returned.

The Dewalt Bluetooth batteries DCB203BT retails for $99 (MSRP) and the DCB204BT has a retail price of $139 (MSRP).

Dewalt's app can be downloaded for iOS on the App Store and for Android in Google Play.
